中村 美裕（代表理事）
CODA（ろうの親を持つ子）として育ち、手話を「日常の言語」として使う環境で成長。
手話通訳士としての専門性と、旅程管理の知識を活かし、
ろう者・難聴者・手話ユーザーが安心して参加できる「出会いのある旅」を実現するため、
一般社団法人 Japan Sign Travel を設立しました。
留学や国際的な学びを通して、新しい出会いが生み出す価値は無限であることを実感。
日本国内だけでなく、世界とつながる出会いを、手話を通して広げていくことを目指しています。
About Us
Why I Started This Journey
I grew up as a CODA — a Child of Deaf Adults — in a world that was neither completely Deaf nor hearing. Both worlds are beautiful to me: I love Deaf culture and sign language just as much as spoken Japanese. But growing up, I often heard things like “That’s so sad, your parents are Deaf,” or “You can hear — why didn’t you tell me?” Those comments made me feel things I couldn’t easily express in Japanese, though in sign language, I always could.
私はCODA（ろう者の親を持つ子）として、ろう者でも聴者でもない曖昧な世界で育ちました。 ろう者の世界も、聴者の世界もどちらも大好きで、日本手話も音声日本語も自由に使えます。 でも、「親がろう者でかわいそう」「聞こえるのに教えてくれなかったの？」など、 そんな言葉にモヤモヤすることもありました。 手話では伝えられるのに、日本語では難しい——そんな瞬間がありました。
Seeing both the Deaf and hearing worlds taught me something vital: Deaf people are not “disabled.” The real disability is the barrier that blocks access. Deaf individuals are incredibly strong, expressive, and capable. Even across countries, sign language carries communication beyond sound.
ろう者と聴者、両方の世界を見てきたからこそわかります。 私にとって「ろう者」は障害者ではありません。 何かをしたいと思ったときに立ちはだかる“壁”こそが障害です。 ろう者は自分で道を切り開く力を持ち、伝える力にあふれています。 言葉の壁を超え、世界中で通じ合える力を持っています。
Through Japan Sign Travel, I want to create opportunities where Deaf and hearing people can connect, explore new values, and share experiences across borders — a space where sign language opens the world.
だからこそ、Japan Sign Travelを通して、 手話でつながる出会いや体験をもっと増やし、 ろう者も聴者も、国を超えて学び、挑戦し、広がる未来を一緒に築きたいと思いました。
